Well its cold outside right now and all I can think about is the summer sun coming in a few short months. That gets me thinking! I miss my paddle board. I wanted to be of value and share with my fellow boarders about where I like to go and relax and coast! :)
Starting off as a first place to visit, go to Comal Park during the summer months to find access to several areas of this cove on Canyon Lake. They charge about $4 per day per vehicle and you are also able to get a season pass. Be sure to check the local park information to verify there haven't been any changes since writing this.
Among the boat ramps and trails, I prefer going to the trails by the dam on the lake side and the river side. Park up top and walk down the trail by the dam and put in your board there. If you decide to hike it for a bit before reaching the river you'll start down below. Both are great options, but the lake water will be warmer and deeper for obvious reasons. A few of our local neighborhoods actually feature waterfront access parks and many have public boat ramps that you can enter on. Make sure you follow the rules and take a life jacket on board. We encourage you to take water and sunscreen as well!
I have a desire to continue to find some great areas of the lake that I have not seen up close in person but finding the right entry and exit point is key. Stay in touch with me and I will keep you entertained! :)
stay tuned until the next blog!
